April Camden Mitter has over 30 years of musical and teaching experience.
She has taught private, group and early childhood music at Northwestern
University Music Academy and more recently at Wheaton College Community
School of the Arts. Active as an adjudicator, accompanist and performer, Mrs.
Mitter has also served as worship musician in many churches.
A Southern Illinois native, Mrs. Mitter received a Bachelor of Music in piano
performance from Wheaton College and Conservatory and a Masters of Music in
piano performance and pedagogy from Northwestern University. Her teachers
include William Phemister, Marcia Bosits, Fran Larimer and Elvina Pearce.
Having been involved in teaching in her private piano studio for many years and also a
professional children’s choir, Young Naperville Singers, for seven years, Mrs. Mitter has a
passion to teach and nurture young musicians to musical excellence. Mrs. Mitter is a
member of MTNA (Music Teachers National Association), ACDA (American Choral
Directors Association) and AGO (American Guild of Organists).
